Welcome

EurTradeNet is the European Alliance of customs-related service providers or CRSPs, a unique knowledge network joining together local expertise, information handling services and communication solutions of the leading and certified CRSPs to assure the most effective implementation of eCustoms Europe-wide.

Companies dealing with foreign trade operations and intercommunity transits need to exchange customs and trade information abroad, with their partners (traders and forwarders, logistics operators and global integrators) but also with the local customs authorities Europe-wide, complying with their specific operational rules and established regulations.

Even though the customs procedures are being harmonised within the EU, they are locally realised. There are significant differences in data content and workflow, information handling technologies and communication means, intermediate players and customs agents, legal authorisations and audit procedures.

EurTradeNet has worked hard to balance local diversity towards European homogenisation, defining unified structures for trans-European interchange, and proving its networked approach with client traders, forwarders and logistics operators. At country level, the ETN partners provide the information handling and secure communication with the local customs authorities. As an umbrella organisation, EurTradeNet allows them to share knowledge and activities, and to take advantage of common standards and re-usable solutions to serve trans-European needs, consequently influencing the international bodies to optimize the deployment of new public regulations and operational approaches.

Differential knowledge and positioning

EurTradeNet has a significant European representation that covers the most relevant geographies in terms of volume of foreign trade operations and cross-border management.

The relevant international bodies and institutions acknowledge the ETN differential values. EurTradeNet concluded a contract with DG INFSO for market validation, and the European Commission filmed a video of the ETN initiative as a trans-European success in eCustoms. But even more important is the “recognition” at the international bodies in charge of customs matters: EurTradeNet is a stable member of the TCG or Trade Contact Group organised by DG TAXUD to cross-check the new directives and operational approaches with traders before coming into force; and at the World Customs Organisation EurTradeNet is an active participant at the IMSC or Information Management Sub-Committee, and a member of the WCO Data Model Project Team.
